Moves to Monterrey, Mexico

Awarded the VIII November Salon Prize, Monterrey, Mexico

1966

For the next 3 years lives in London

1967

Studies in printmaking at the Chelsea School of Art and Central School of Art, London

Selected in open competition among 1500 artists working in Great Britain to participate in the I Edinburgh Open 100, Edinburgh Festival, Edinburgh, Scotland; Jury: Norman Reid, Sir Roland Penrose

1968

Selected in competition for admission of new members to the Artists International Association; Jury: Mary Martin, Patrick Proctor

1969

Moves back to Monterrey, Mexico

1970

Receives the Medellín Award, II Coltejer Art Biennial, Medellín, Colombia; Jury: Giulio Carlo Argan, Miguel Aguilera Cerni and Lawrence Alloway

1971

Takes up residence in New York where she continues to reside to date

1976

Receives the International Women’s Year Award, in recognition of outstanding cultural contributions and dedication to women and art, International Women’s Arts Festival, New York

1979

Selected to represent Colombia at the XV International Sao Paulo Biennial, Sao Paulo, Brazil

1985

Receives the Canadian Club Award, Mira: The Canadian Club Hispanic Art Tour, Museo del Barrio, New York

1993

Receives the Colombia Award in Art given to Colombians living abroad, for contributions to the arts, Miami

2001

Admitted as member of the National Arts Club, New York

2006

Receives the Colombia Abroad Excellence Award given to Colombians who have excelled in their careers in the USA, Miami

2007

Receives Honorable Mention, Members Exhibition, National Arts Club, New York

2011

Designs the official poster for the XXVIII Bogotá Film Festival

Receives the Caring for Colombia award for her “Lifetime Contributions to the Arts”

2013

Invited to make a mural for the new Coliseum building, Universidad de Antioquia, Medellín, Colombia

2015

Conferred honorary doctorate degree (Magister en Artes Honoris Causa), Universidad de Antioquia, Medellín, Colombia
